Tobermory Distillery is located in the village of the same name on the island of Mull in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Founded in 1796, the small distillery Tobermory is the only one on the island.
The nose reveals immediately a beautiful dominant peat, both on smoked but especially on the plant.
Especially soft attack, then the body powerful, spicy, takes its full extent. The smoked dominates, but without overwriting beautiful fruity (pear, baked apple). All very balanced, where peat blends with elegance other aromatic characteristics: yellow beeswax, sandalwood, black pepper.
Nice finish very smooth. Another idea peat as in force on Islay ...
To the west and north of Scotland "continental", ribs cut end with a string of islands rather inhospitable, but still harbor some distilleries. The name Island is no longer officially recognized by the Scotch Whisky Association, which is now merged with Highland. But the remoteness and difficulty of trading with the rest of Scotland explain the maintenance of specific traditions.
